Mustafa Abugideiri, MD

Dr. Abugideiri joined Radiation Oncology Associates in 2024. He has experience treating all disease sites in radiation oncology, but his clinical interests and focus will include the treatment of genitourinary/prostate, thoracic/lung, head and neck, and central nervous system malignancies using a multi-disciplinary approach. He also has a clinical interest in the treatment of benign diseases with radiation therapy, such as osteoarthritis. He presently serves as an assistant professor at the University of Virginia. 

Dr. Abugideiri was born and raised in Northern Virginia. He was awarded with the Banneker Key Scholarship, the most prestigious merit scholarship at the University of Maryland, and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a degree in psychology. He received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and was part of the global health track. He completed his radiation oncology residency at Emory University, where he was selected as the chief resident. He was also given the Andrew Pippas award, which is an honor given to a resident who excels in professionalism and compassionate, ethical patient care. Dr. Abugideiri is proficient in many advanced radiation modalities, including proton therapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, HDR brachytherapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy, and volumetric modulated arc therapy. He has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and has given many oral presentations at national meetings on a wide range of topics in radiation oncology. 

Prior to joining the radiation oncology team at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax, he was a partner at Coastal Carolina Radiation Oncology in Wilmington, NC and was involved in enrolling patients on clinic trials for prostate and lung malignancies.  He also participated in the multidisciplinary clinics for breast, gastrointestinal, thoracic, and head and neck malignancies. During that time, he also served as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of North Carolina. 

Dr. Abugideiri is ecstatic to be a part of the Inova Radiation Oncology team and to return home to be close to family and friends. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Abugideiri enjoys spending time with his wife and children. His enjoys snowboarding, hiking, woodworking, traveling, and playing sports. 

Dr. Abugideiri is board certified in radiation oncology and will be seeing patients at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax.
