Kathryn Marqueen, MD

Dr. Kathryn Marqueen joined Radiation Oncology Associates in 2025 and sees patients at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax, VA.

Born and raised in Richmond, VA, Dr. Marqueen attended the University of Virginia as an Echols Scholar and graduated with a degree in Economics with High Distinction. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and received several academic achievement awards for her research. She attended medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she received the Alpha Omega Alpha Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship and graduated with Distinction in Research. She went on to complete a transitional year internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and residency in Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. During her time in training, she was the recipient of the American College of Radiation Oncology Resident Seed Grant for her research as well as the James M. Moorefield Fellowship in Economics and Health Policy at the American College of Radiology (ACR) and American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Emerging Advocacy Grassroots Leader Award. Dr. Marqueen currently serves on several national, professional committees, including the ACR Radiation Oncology Economics Committee, ACR Federal Regulation Committee, and ASTRO Payer Relations Subcommittee (Health Policy Committee).

Dr. Marqueen is proficient in many advanced radiation modalities, including proton therapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, HDR brachytherapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy, and volumetric modulated arc therapy. She is trained to treat all disease sites in radiation oncology, and her clinical focus will include treatment of thoracic and gynecologic malignancies.

In her free time, she enjoys trying new recipes, both sweet and savory, and exploring new places with her husband.
