Dr. Grace Lee

Dr. Grace Lee joined Radiation Oncology Associates in 2025 and sees patients at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax, Virginia.
Originally from Pohang, South Korea, Dr. Lee attended the Schreyer Honors College at Pennsylvania State University, graduating summa cum laude with dual degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Genetics & Developmental Biology. As an undergraduate, she received the Evans Research Achievement Award for her honors thesis on small molecule–based chemical reprogramming of human astroglial cells into functional neurons.
Dr. Lee earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where she graduated cum laude with honors in research. Her medical thesis explored the clinical application of hippocampal avoidance during whole brain radiotherapy for patients with perihippocampal brain metastases. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by residency at the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program, with clinical training at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital. She served as Chief Resident during her final year.
During her training, Dr. Lee’s research focused on harnessing technological advancements to enhance the precision and personalization of cancer care. Her work has explored the use of MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy to optimize treatment for high-risk thoracic tumors; proton therapy to reduce toxicity in gastrointestinal cancers; and AI deep-learning models to develop imaging-based biomarkers for cancer prognostication. Her research has been presented at national conferences, including the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and published in multiple peer-reviewed journals.
Clinically, Dr. Lee is trained in all aspects of radiation oncology, and her practice focuses on gastrointestinal, genitourinary (including prostate), and bone/soft tissue (sarcoma) malignancies. She is proficient in a wide range of advanced radiation modalities, including proton therapy, stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SBRT/SABR), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), MRI- and CT-based adaptive radiotherapy, high-dose-rate (HDR) and low-dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy, intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT), and radioligand/radiopharmaceutical therapy. Her clinical interests center on using adaptive technologies to deliver more precise, individualized radiation treatments.
Dr. Lee is proud to be part of the Inova Radiation Oncology team and is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to her patients.
Outside of work, she enjoys cooking Korean food and relaxing with her husband over a good Netflix series.
